 "Lavenders in Province"

I found this tablecloth/ wholecloth piece at The Spinning Wheel  last year.  I pondered over what I would do with it, if anything...  I decided to go for it and make it a magnificently quilted wholecloth quilt.

this panel really inspired me, I live in Texas and thought the flowers were bluebonnets at first.  But no, it's lavender.   I dug out this book I have called "Quilts of Provence" by Kathryn Berenson for ideas.

this looks like a library book, but I bought it at a book sale, honest...

mm hm, look on page 61....

I looked for round ideas from mosaics and drafted the inner circle designs.

and this mosaic recently uncovered in Turkey inspired my outer circles around the lavender sprigs,

see the square designs from the book surrounding the inner rings?

I used a Cindy Needham  stencil for the big inner rope ring.

This quilt is 70 inches square, I used a Glide thread in Cloud (one of my favorite colors), quilter's Dream wool batting

There is a little bit of bobbin work using Ricky Timms Razzle Dazzle.

I also used my embroidered binding technique, which I shared a tutorial in March

And here's a peek at the back of the quilt.

I sure had fun making this quilt.  It was on my longarm for 3 months, so I am very happy to have it done.
