The Cloth of Dreams

Our guild, GSAQG , has a storybook cause wherein we make quilts to go with quilt-related children's books.  These books/quilts go to local elementary schools and libraries.  I picked up the book, The Boy and The Cloth of Dreams by Jenny Koralek to make a go-along quilt.

The inside cover revealed the full illustration of the quilt, illustrated by James Mayhew.

Wow, I thought about bringing the book back to the guild and choosing an easier one.  Then I found Helen Godden's blog  Random Thoughts Whilst Quilting and saw how she paints on black cotton with lumiere paints.  So I did the same for this quilt.

Here I am painting it on the back porch.  The sun and moon are raw edge appliqued.  The rest of the top is paint on black cotton fabric.

Et voila,  this is the finished storybook quilt.

Start by doing what's necessary; then do what's possible; and suddenly you are doing the impossible.
